Cost, plan & reimbursement
What does NOA really cost — are there any hidden fees?
A one-time device fee: NOA Mini €69.99 or NOA Watch €69.99. Choose your plan later in the NOA app — e.g. €24.99/month (cancellable monthly) or €274.89/year (annual plan). SIM, roaming, GPS, messaging and accessories are all included. No activation fee, no per-message charge, no contract lock-in.
Does health or long-term care insurance cover the cost of NOA?
No — and that's intentional. NOA is a free, mobile safety service, not a home emergency system tied to a fixed base station. That gives you real advantages: NOA is open to everyone — even without an official care level and without applying to an insurer. There's no assessment to wait for and no approval to depend on. You also stay independent of whatever insurers may or may not reimburse in the future. The price stays transparent, with no hidden costs and cancellable monthly — and NOA protects you not just at home but everywhere you go.
How long is the contract — can I cancel anytime?
There is no minimum term and no contract lock-in. The monthly plan is cancellable monthly. With the annual plan we refund the unused period pro rata if you cancel early. The device is yours after the one-time purchase.
How NOA works
Does the wearer need a smartphone or app?
No — using the device itself requires no smartphone and no app. NOA has its own SIM card, mobile connection, GPS, speaker and microphone. It works fully independently. A trusted reference person configures contacts once in the NOA app.
How is NOA set up and how quickly is it ready?
A trusted reference person sets it up once in the NOA app: add trusted contacts for the call chain and recipients for the location message — done. NOA is then ready immediately. The wearer doesn't need to set up anything and needs neither a smartphone nor an app.
Does NOA work without mobile coverage?
We're honest: where there's no network, no message or call gets through — true for every device of this class. NOA uses 4G LTE with 2G fallback and switches automatically between major carriers. Coverage in over 99% of inhabited areas in Europe. As soon as NOA has coverage again, it sends the alert.
How is the device worn?
On a lanyard, belt clip, wristband, key ring or backpack — depending on use. Various wearing options are available as accessories.
What is the call with voice announcement (TTS) — and how does it differ from the live call?
With the voice-announcement call, NOA automatically calls your contacts and plays a spoken message — e.g. “Emergency at [name], please help immediately.” The contact instantly knows what it's about, without anyone needing to speak at the device. The live call, by contrast, opens a real two-way voice connection. The voice announcement (Text-to-Speech) is an add-on and must be booked separately; without it, it stays disabled. It clarifies an emergency faster – which can avoid costly emergency-call-center dispatches (€10) and reduce unnecessary escalations. More on the Technology page.
In an emergency
What happens if none of the three contacts answer?
NOA calls trusted contacts one after another and simultaneously sends the GPS location to all message recipients. If nobody answers on the first round, the chain restarts automatically. We recommend three contacts with different routines.
Who gets called in an emergency?
Up to three call numbers are stored by the reference person. NOA dials them in order. As soon as someone answers, a direct voice connection is established via the device's speaker and microphone.
Who receives the location message?
The recipient list is separate from the three call numbers and can include up to 10 contacts. Everyone receives the emergency text with a link to the exact GPS location in parallel.
Privacy & security
What happens to the location data sent by message?
You can configure the interval in the NOA app. NOA stores no movement profiles. Servers are in Europe, processing is GDPR-compliant. Location data is used only as configured — out of respect for the wearer's privacy.
Who & where NOA fits
Does NOA work outside Germany?
Yes. NOA works across Europe — calls and location messages work on all supported networks.
Is NOA suitable for school children?
Yes. NOA is rugged, small and distraction-free. It doesn't replace a smartphone — and that's exactly the advantage: no screen, no games, no social media. Just a clear SOS button kids can understand and use.
Can we use NOA as an employer for lone workers?
Yes. NOA is suitable for workplaces where staff regularly work alone — caretakers, field service, maintenance, care, security. The three call numbers can be set up as an escalation chain. Volume discounts available on request.
Classification & scope
How is NOA different from a classic home emergency button?
A classic home emergency button only works inside the home, tied to a base station, and ends at the front door. NOA works everywhere — garden, shopping, vacation, hiking — and calls family instead of anonymous call centres. A familiar voice in emergencies, usually cheaper too.
Is NOA a medical device?
No. NOA is not a medical device and doesn't replace professional rescue services. It connects the wearer with stored trusted contacts and shares the location. Those people can then alert rescue services or help themselves.
